Language Literacy & Numeracy
Correct Training Systems Language Literacy & Numeracy (LLN) Policy applies to students and staff trainers & assessors for our training products that issue a unit of competence from a industry training package. We also deliver short workplace training session that we can adapt to suit learners with low language and literacy, using simple language, diagrams, simple text and pictorial presentations.
Information on language, literacy and numeracy for our nationally recognised training products is aligned to the requirements of the Training Package and units of competence, and communicated for each training product on course confirmation correspondence.
The majority of our nationally recognised training products, issuing units of competence require relatively high levels of language, literacy and numeracy, in order to complete the assessment task and meet the requirements of the unit.
These training products typically require:
CTS recognises that not all students have a level of language, literacy and numeracy skills that will enable them to complete their course without assistance. We will endeavour to assist these students where possible through the process of reasonable adjustment, using a range of approaches as applicable :
Where a enrolled student's Language Literacy and Numeracy needs are impacting on progress through the training product's training and assessment CTS will refer the student to to a professional organisation specializing in LLN for further assistance. CTS may issue a refund of fees paid by the student.

- Reading industry legislation, standards, workplace documents, procedures, technical documents
- Oral communication to communicate in a range of familiar and unfamiliar settings, for example to communicate food safety responsibilities, food safety issues and corrective actions to staff, management and external authorities.
- Numerical calculations suing a range of tools,such as calculators, spreadsheets. Recording, monitoring and interpretation of measurements.
- Writing a range of documents, using professional language and terms relating to food safety. Examples may include writing a Corrective Action Request, a workplace standard operating procedure, an internal audit report, a label
- Learning to implement and adjust processes as changes occur. Examples may include researching information and applicable industry standards on the internet.
