Participate in Food Recalls
Course Outline
This program is for HACCP team leaders, quality assurance personnel who implement and monitor a workplace food safety program. It will assist those responsible for initiating and conducting a product recall on behalf of their food manufacturing operation or food business. Effective product recall procedures are an essential component of a food safety system, based on the principles and application of HACCP Codex. This program meets the requirements of NSW Food Authority, WSEP, SQF, CGL, and other food safety system requirements.
The training product directly targets those currently working in supervisory or middle management roles within food processing or warehousing environments. This training product covers technical skill and knowledge required to identify circumstances that could warrant a product recall and to initiate and/or participate in recall processes within level of authority. It is relevant training for the roles of production managers, quality assurance officers, quality controllers.
This training product requires the participants to have experience and access to a food production workplace and to be actively enacting the monitoring and implementation of the workplace food safety program, including a recall program. Evidence of the ability to monitor and implement a recall within a documented food safety program will be required as part of the assessment process.
This course is ideal for those with some responsibility or experience in food processing and wanting to further their career in a supervisory or management position. Completion of this training product will position the business to meet compliance and regulated outcomes, thus reducing risk, by proactively training their staff, also maintaining and enhancing business opportunities for the business.

Course Outcomes
This ONE day program will provide you with information to manage the risk and implications for your business, by being well prepared for a recall situation.
On completion of this program, you will be able to:
Students will complete some initial pre-reading before training content is delivered in a one day training workshop.
Students complete a range of assessment tasks in class and work based projects, including an individual workbook with short questions and answers, in class case study and a workplace full mock recall report including submission of workplace procedures, records and report clearly demonstrating application of the skills and knowledge relating to enacting a product recall.
The trainer will incorporate practical hints and tips, model templates and forms, sharing knowledge of actual recall events and best practice recall management.
The successful completion of the program, and the associated assessments, will result in the awarding of a Statement of Attainment for the unit of competence FBPTEC4008 Participate in Product Recalls. Alternatively, students may opt for a Certificate of Participation for attending the program. This program may contribute to a formal HACCP training program, compliance to WSEP or other such vendor customer standards, or recognised qualification such as Certificate IV FBP40321.
